Nature Positive Webinar: a draft roadmap for industry consultation
Australia currently faces significant challenges, including increasing urbanisation, the depletion of nature and a low rate of circularity. Resource use continues to place pressure on nature while investment in solutions remains limited.
So how can the built environment become a force for restoring nature? Join us to hear about the nature positive roadmap; a new guide for sustainable development across precincts, buildings and fit outs in Australia.
The draft roadmap discusses the built environment’s role as it relates to nature. It details the built environment’s role in contributing to key challenges in protecting, restoring and regenerating nature. It builds on work undertaken by the GBCA to date, and includes translation of global biodiversity targets into actionable, measurable steps for the built environment. Importantly, the draft roadmap acknowledges the importance of strong policy integration, consistent data, and the inclusion of First Nations knowledge and leadership in driving success.
During this webinar you’ll hear from members of the Nature Roadmap Advisory Panel members as we discuss how to prevent nature loss, increase and connect nature, drive circularity, choose low impact materials and invest in nature while maintaining the guiding principles of culture, community and connection to Country.
Speakers:
• Abigail Heywood, Senior Manager Environmental Sustainability, Lendlease
• Guy Williams, Founder, Ziranjiti
• Nicole Yazbek-Martin, Executive Manager: Sustainability Standards and Practice, Australian Sustainable Finance Institute

The way we design, deliver, and manage commercial spaces is quickly evolving. Products as a Service (PaaS) is emerging as a flexible, circular alternative to traditional procurement – shifting the focus from ownership to access.
Join us for a dynamic session exploring how modular furniture, lighting, and technology delivered as a service can provide adaptable solutions that evolve with changing needs – while addressing major environmental challenges like resource depletion and waste
What You’ll Learn
– Understand the core value of PaaS and its relevance to Green Star certification
– Explore how PaaS supports circular economy principles and ESG performance
– Discover real-world case studies showcasing successful PaaS fitouts
– Gain practical tips on choosing and assessing the right PaaS providers for long-term success

The need to embed social value into our built environment is more critical than ever. But we also need to define, measure and report on the value of the work and how it contributes to thriving communities and organisations. What does value look like? And how can this enable industry to make decisions which maximise benefits to all involved.
Join our speakers as we look to unpack example of social value, and tackle effective measurement. We will look at authentic collaboration and how to effectively work with stakeholders to lead to positive outcomes.
Themes to include:
-
How do we measure and report on social value
-
What does good look like?
-
How to work with internal and external stakeholders and communicate the value of social impact
-
What next steps must industry take
We already know sustainability can’t be delivered without a team. The role of procurement is crucial to ensure the products and services we specify reduce environmental impact, support ethical labour practices, and help organisations meet their sustainability strategies.
In this session, you will hear from experts in sustainable, social and circular procurement, as they explore:
• the latest in industry practice, what ‘good’ can look like and how to improve outcomes
• how to embed circular strategies into procurement practices within your organisation
• how to meet procurement requirements within Green Star

Recognising the growing demand for heathier, energy-efficient apartments in Australia, GBCA have developed the Green Star Buildings Apartments Pathway, a roadmap to deliver healthier and more responsible apartments.
The Apartments Pathway is a new set of requirements and targeted credits within the Green Star Buildings rating tool tailored to deliver more sustainable multi-unit residential projects.
For the first time, the pathway will offer independent unit-level certification, giving buyers, banks and residents confidence that each apartment meets high performance standards.
Join us for an introductory webinar to gain insights into the development of the Apartments Pathway, its key drivers, features and benefits, and how it can create value for your next Green Star Buildings apartment project.
GBCA is excited to release the next version of Green Star Communities as a part of our Future focus program.
This update to the tool establishes a new benchmark for masterplanned precincts and communities, offering a robust and transparent pathway to deliver on environmental, social, and economic outcomes.
The rating tool provides a clear definition of a sustainable precinct and sets a pathway for low carbon, nature-focused outcomes.
Join this webinar to hear more about how the tool:
-
Establishes a new definition of sustainable precincts through a new category and credit framework
-
Drives future-ready infrastructure and buildings.
-
Delivers value across multiple precinct typologies.
-
Rewards outcomes through a flexible certification process.
