The buildings materials sector is the next step in decarbonising our economy. Our climate crises demands that we help drive the supply chain to healthy, zero carbon, low impact materials ready for a circular economy. But what does this mean in practice and what steps can we take to ensuring that the products and materials we use are environmentally and socially responsible. How can we take a transformative approach to supply chain management?
Join us at this Insights session, where will we unpack our Responsible Products Framework, which seeks to raise the bar on products and outlines criteria for scoring how ‘responsible’ a product is, so supporting the built environment industry in adapting to and driving responsible supply chains.
We will also examine how it is used to recognise initiatives that a product or manufacturer can comply with for the purposes of contributing to a Green Star certification.
This session is aimed at product suppliers and manufacturers and is a must for those wanting to be across the latest changes.
Consultation on the Responsible and Places credits is now closed.
The university and education sector has shown real leadership and excellence in achieving sustainable built environments for their students and communities. In this webinar, we share leading case studies which include fascinating innovations such as dynamic digital media façade design and sun shading at Edith Cowan University and new building with roof top PV and electrochromic glazing at University of Newcastle.
We unpack what can be learnt from these projects for improved outcomes in other sectors and settings.
Join our experts as they take you on their journey to achieving Green Star, including their challenges, lessons learned and reasons why building sustainable, strong, interconnected academic environment for students is important to them. They explore what opportunities lay ahead for the industry and how it can be applied to your project.

The circular economy presents an opportunity to design out waste, keep materials in use, regenerate systems and deliver positive social and environmental impact. This Insights session, developed in partnership with Edge Environment, Circle Economy in the Netherlands, and Mirvac, addresses how to develop a circular economy strategy, illustrated with European and Australian examples.
We cover:
- Approaches and tools for developing a circular economy strategy
- International case studies, including one city and one product manufacturer
- Australian property case study: Mirvac’s plan for zero waste by 2030
- Planet Positive: Waste and Materials
Closing the loop on supply chains is one of the seven megatrends underpinning the Green Star for New Buildings rating tool. This webinar gives a holistic understanding of this concept and the results we can expect in practice.

On average, Australian families spend 90% of their time indoors, with two thirds of this at home. So it’s not surprising to hear that 57% of Australia’s built environment emissions come from our homes. If we are serious about limiting global warming to below 1.5 degrees, as committed to in the Paris Agreement, we can’t ignore our homes.
Australian households also pay amongst the highest energy bills in the world. Most households pay between $1,600 to $1,900 on average, per year. The Green Star Homes Standard outlines a path to deliver net zero energy homes. A net zero energy home is one that has been built to generate enough renewable energy to power all estimated regulated loads as well as estimated appliance and plug loads. They do not use gas. When operated well, these homes will not only save money in reduced bills, but will also be built to be net zero in operations.
Please join us for this webinar as we take a deeper look at the Positive category of the Green Star Homes Standard.
You will gain an understanding of the net zero energy requirements of the Green Star Homes Standard and will also hear from industry leaders who have worked extensively in the residential sector to deliver net zero energy homes.
Global climate change is affecting all facets of life and many of these impacts are being felt today. Increased frequency and intensity of natural disasters such as bushfire, flooding and extreme heat, detrimentally affect our built environment, including our homes. This in turn impacts our health and wellbeing, and the reliability of infrastructure. These changes challenge the way we build and has broader implications to the community.
At Green Building Council of Australia, our vision is to create healthy, resilient and positive places. This includes our homes. A resilient home is one that has been built to be more robust than required by the minimum building standard and is thus able to better withstand natural disasters and future climate change conditions.
Please join us for this webinar where we take a deep dive into the Resilient category of the Green Star Homes Standard. We will also be joined by an experienced panel with expertise in climate risk and resilience and what this means at an industry, community and home level.
