Replaced every 5–7 years, fitouts are one of the most frequently updated, and least examined, elements of the built environment. Each cycle influences embodied carbon, waste, health and cost outcomes, yet these impacts are often overlooked or treated as short-term decisions.

Developed in response to growing industry focus on embodied carbon, circularity and healthier interiors, Green Star Fitouts provides a clear, practical framework to guide more sustainable fitout decisions across projects and portfolios. Importantly, it is the first rating tool to embed circularity as a core requirement for fitouts – setting a new benchmark for how interior projects are designed and delivered.
