Overcoming barriers on a tricky Green Star project
This interactive workshop will explore how to approach complex and unconventional Green Star projects, unpack credit intent, and identify pathways when standard compliance isn't possible. The session will introduce GSAPs (experienced and new) to key stakeholders in a Green Star project, deliver an overview of the certification process and will provide you greater confidence in developing robust submissions and Technical Questions.
Brisbane Airport is using Green Star to drive more sustainable, resilient and future-ready developments across its property portfolio. Within the calendar year, five 5 Star Green Star certified buildings have been delivered across the Airport Industrial Park and Export Park precincts, with a further 3 projects targeting 5 Star Green Star certification across Brisbane Airport.
This session will explore the opportunities and lessons learned from delivering Green Star at scale, including the application of sector-specific credits, and the design decisions that have supported outcomes in areas such as embodied carbon, energy efficiency, water management and occupant wellbeing.
Targeting a 5 Star Green Star Buildings certification, the Cairns Tropical Enterprise Centre is setting a benchmark for sustainable development in tropical Australia.
Through mass timber construction, climate-responsive design and meaningful First Nations engagement, the project demonstrates a resilient, low-carbon approach tailored to its unique regional context.

Entry
BCEC has three entrances. The Main Entrance on the corner of Merivale & Glenelg Streets, the Grey Street Entrance, and the Exhibition Entrance at the corner of Melbourne & Merivale Streets.
Getting there
BCEC is a short stroll across from the Brisbane CBD connected by Victoria Bridge.

South Brisbane Railway Station adjacent to the Convention Centre on Grey Street or South Bank Railway Station are the most convenient stations to BCEC.
The Cultural Centre Station on Melbourne Street and the South Bank Busway Station cnr of Colchester and Tribune Streets are closest to BCEC.
The public transport ferries CityCats operate everyForum and stop at the South Bank River Terminal on the Clem Jones Promenade. The inner-city ferry travels between the CBD, North Quay and Kangaroo Point, stopping at South Bank Terminal 1 and 2 on the Clem Jones Promenade.
Taxi ranks are located outside the main entrance to the Centre on Merivale Street and a taxi drop–off located at the Convention Centre Grey Street entrance.
