Hakoah Club is a not-for-profit community, social, and sporting club. The Club was originally established in 1939 for the principal purpose of promoting soccer, particularly amongst the Sydney Jewish community. Since conception, Hakoah has facilitated and encouraged other games and sporting activities, including swimming, tennis, cricket, and table tennis. From 1975 to 2009, the Club was based at Hall St, Bondi, and provided sporting and registered club facilities including swimming pool, gymnasium, a function room, restaurants, etc. The Club vacated the Hall Street site in 2009, and in 2010 purchased White City site (together with Maccabi Tennis). The Club’s vision is to reinvigorate the site, develop it into a multi-function sporting, recreation and cultural facility for the local and general Sydney community. The approach to ESD (Environmentally Sustainable Design) within this project has focussed on outcomes of robust and pragmatic design solutions through the integration of architecture and building services.
