Webinar 1: The proposed rating tool and Responsible category
Green Star Communities v2 is a significant update to our rating tool for master planned precincts. Tackling rising issues of climate action, equity inclusion, affordable housing and resilience, the updated rating tool addresses this through our Future Focus framework and a Climate Positive Pathway, ensuring more inclusive, resilient, and biodiverse precincts that are on a trajectory towards decarbonisation.
Join us for a series of webinars running weekly from 26 June to 17 July 2023 detailing the consultation process, the new rating tool framework, and a deep dive on each of the categories out for consultation.
This first webinar of the series is a broad outline of the rating tool, key changes you should be aware of and an overview of the development and consultation process. It also provides an outline of the Responsible category which focuses on ensuring the precinct is planned, designed, and constructed to a high standard, with appropriate collaboration and targets.
This webinar is suitable for those looking to get an insight into the evolution of Green Star Communities. Urban planning and design professionals, architects, sustainability managers, government land organisation’s and local councils as well as current users of the tool are encouraged to attend.
Consultation on the credits and the Climate Positive Pathway in Green Star Communities v2 was open from 15 June to 15 August 2023.

The buildings materials sector is the next step in decarbonising our economy. Our climate crises demands that we help drive the supply chain to healthy, zero carbon, low impact materials ready for a circular economy. But what does this mean in practice and what steps can we take to ensuring that the products and materials we use are environmentally and socially responsible. How can we take a transformative approach to supply chain management?
Join us at this Insights session, where will we unpack our Responsible Products Framework, which seeks to raise the bar on products and outlines criteria for scoring how ‘responsible’ a product is, so supporting the built environment industry in adapting to and driving responsible supply chains.
We will also examine how it is used to recognise initiatives that a product or manufacturer can comply with for the purposes of contributing to a Green Star certification.
This session is aimed at product suppliers and manufacturers and is a must for those wanting to be across the latest changes.
Consultation on the Responsible and Places credits is now closed.
