This session will highlight the challenges and opportunities driving wider adoption of  Design for Manufacture and Assemble (DfMA) and modern methods of construction (MMC).   Drawing on Hassell’s recent MMC research findings, this session will cover what is takes to drive wider use of circular principles and modular construction.

1:10pm Case Study:  Modular construction pathways for deeper social & community outcomes

This session will explore how modular construction is helping to meet social and community needs through faster delivery, smarter design and scalable solutions. Led by Modular by SHAPE, the discussion will examine the growth areas for modular demand and highlight project examples where modularity has unlocked opportunities for social and community outcome.

2:00pm  Case study:  Scaling modularity for affordable housing – moving from theory to action

As housing demand intensifies and affordability pressures mount, Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) are emerging as a lever to deliver homes faster, smarter and at greater scale. This session, led by Buildings 4.0 CRC, will explore the economic rationale and research behind the use of MMC. Using the Homes NSW Pilot Project as a case study, the session will explore how innovation and new delivery models can reshape housing outcomes while creating stronger social returns.
